In 1959, Fernando Poe Jr. shared top billing with veteran actress, Edna Luna in a sci-fi movie, "Anak ng Bulkan." But the main stars of the movie was the monster bird and a boy named Bentoy played by Ace York who later grew up to be known as Ace Vergel.

TOUGH GUY (1959)

In 1959, the young Fernando Poe, Jr. played the role of a juvenile deliquent, wrongly accused of a crime. His father, a honest policeman, portrayed by Jose Padilla, Jr. was tasked to apprehend the erring son. Good story, good plot, great cast! One of a few early FPJ movies where comedian Chiquito appeared as his sidekick.

"EX-CONVICT" (1967) NOW ON ORIGINAL VCD

Ex-Convict, released in 1967, is now available in the market in VCD format only. It tells of Dante, an ex-convict, who was released in prison after serving a one-year jail term. He tries to recover the loot (many pieces of jewelries) which he buried somewhere in a construction site. It's not that easy for our hero. He have to hurdle several obstacles. It's vintage FPJ at its best!

FPJ: THE BIGGEST SMB ENDORSER

"Pakners" Premiere ticket/ May 23, 2003 at SM Megamall/ FPJ and co-star billiard king, Efren 'Bata' Reyes holding bottles of San Miguel Beer before the cheering crowd.

FPJ and Ara Mina in a San Miguel beer ad. Both starred in the 2000 movie, "Ayos na... and Kasunod."

In the late 80s, FPJ signed a P27 million advertising contract with San Miguel Beer (SMB) to do nine commercials spread over three years. By industry standards, it was the highest rate ever for a single product endorser, advertising sources say. The previous SMB endorsers--- the APO Hiking Society and the late Bert ‘Tawa’ Marcelo--- reportedly received less.
