TRIVIA ON FPJ'S 1962 "IMPALA"

Originally uploaded at Video 48 blog

Here's another trivia on FPJ. From the column, Studio Whispers by Ethelwolda Ramos /Published at Kislap Graphic, December 12, 1962

There is one story about Ronnie which he loves to recall. Ronnie makes a point to go to church with his family every Sunday. One Sunday, on their way home, they happened to pass a car exchange and Ronnie’s mama, spotting a 1962 Impala, said, “That’s the car I’d like to own!” The following morning, the same car was seen parked in front of the Poe residence in Quezon City. Proudly, Ronnie presented it as a gift to his mama.

"TAHIMIK NGUNI'T MAPANGANIB" (1963) NOW ON ORIGINAL DVD

The 1963 black-and-white war movie, "Tahimik Nguni't Mapanganib," one in my wish list, is already out in the market. The movie was shot entirely in Nueva Ecija, the home province of producer Ruben T. Gozon. It starred Fernando Poe, Jr., Jess Lapid, Max Alvarado, Martin Marfil, Bert Olivar, Manolo Robles, Ruben de Hesus, Pablo Virtuoso, Nello Nayo/ with Rosario del Pilar, Nemia Velaso and Fe Galvez, under Alex M. Sunga direction.

"He was quiet... as quiet as a grenade with the pin off... this young man who has to battle his own countrymen... so he could conquer his country's enemy," says the blurb in this 1963 war movie, Tahimik Nguni't Mapaganib. Fernando Poe, Jr starred as a soldier holed up with his six comrades, surrounded by Japanese forces.
