TOTOY BATO (1977) at CINEMA FPJ, JULY 26

Totoy Bato, with FPJ in the role of a streetfighter (ala Charles Bronson in Hard Times) will be the featured movie tomorrow, July 26 at Cinema FPJ, Channel 2 at 4 pm. The movie, megged by Abraham Cruz and based on the novel by Carlo J. Caparras, starred newcomer Lita Vasquez, veteran Van de Leon, Paquito Diaz, Vic Diaz, Dencio Padilla, Lito Anzures, Nello Nayo and Joonee Gamboa.

KAPAG PUNO NA ANG SALOP (1987) AT CINEMA FPJ, JULY 19


Kapag Puno na Ang Salop (1987), another FPJ movie rarely shown, was the featured film at Cinema FPJ, July 19. The movie was the first of the highly succesful trilogy featuring the two main protagonists: Fernando Poe, Jr. as Lt. Isagani Guerrero and Eddie Garcia as Judge Vaderama. Remember that memorable liner in the movie: “Puno sa ang salop, dapat ka nang kalusin.” FPJ starred opposite Rowena Moran (she was introduced here), in the role of a nurse. Ms. Moran is the mother of Lovie Poe, daughter of FPJ.

The movie was followed by two more sequels: Ako ang Huhusga (1989) and Hindi Ka na Sisikatan ng Araw (1990).

JUST RELEASED: SIERRA MADRE, DAANG HARI and TUNDO: ISLA PUTING BATO ON ORIGINAL VCD

Just released and available in the market are three FPJ movies from Lea Productions: Tundo: Isla Puting Bato (1977) with Charito Solis; Sierra Madre (1981) with Ramon Revilla Sr. and Daang Hari (1984). Sierra Madre and Daang Hari, both done in the early 80s, are two of the movies of Da King rarely seen in local and cable TV and must-see for all die-hard FPJ fans. Grab your copies now!!!

PAKNERS (2003) AT CINEMA FPJ, JULY 12

Pakners (2003), FPJ's last movie, will be shown tomorrow, July 12, at Cinema FPJ, Channel 2 at 4 pm. The action king teamed up with billiard king Efren 'Bata' Reyes in this rib-tickling and hilarious movie. The film, directed by Tony Reyes, also starred Candy Pangilinan, January Isaac, Toni Gonzaga and Oyo Boy Sotto.

ANG MAESTRO (1981) AT CINEMA FPJ, JULY 5

Ang Maestro (1981) will be shown on Saturday, July 5, at Cinema FPJ, Channel 2 at 4 pm. Talented as ever, FPJ showed his fencing skills, the role he was known for from the time he started his movie career with his first film, Anak ni Palaris in 1955. Beauty queen, the late Chat Silayan was his love interest. Witness the breathtaking sword-duel to the death between FPJ (as Hernan de Zuniga) and Romy Diaz (as Ignacio de la Vega) in the movie finale.
